AWARD/LEVEL 5 TRAIN THE TRAINER

Overview

The VTCT/ITEC Level 3 Award in Education and Teaching (VRQ is a vocationally recognized qualification focused on those pursuing a teaching career in further education.

To Teach as it has become more commonly known. This award is designed to equip a wide range of teachers, trainers, and facilitators with the underpinning skills and knowledge to enable them to practice effectively.

Education and teaching provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for those who are new to or wish to start teaching or training, or experienced practitioners who would like to secure professionally recognized teaching/training qualifications.

One of the main benefits of completing this award is that it provides a ‘threshold license to practice’, a requirement within current legislation for all those teaching/training within the Learning and Skills Sector*. This award will enable you to work in a teaching function and progress on to an assessor’s qualification. To save money you can cross over one unit to your assessor’s award.

This award has and continues to be a mandatory requirement for any new teacher/trainer

  • Understanding the principles and practice of assessment.

Level 4 Teacher Training​

CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION & TRAINING

Overview

Level 4 Certificate in teaching and assessing combined is a 33-credit teaching qualification will give you the practical teaching skills and the optional units include your occupational and vocational assessors’ awards,

QUALIFICATIONS

On completion of the course, successful candidates will receive a VTCT Level 4 in Teaching and Assessing.

This maps to a Level 6 QQI on the National Framework. (Train the Trainer Level 6 with a full Assessor’s Award, and part of an IQA Award).

The guided learning hours for this course will include one to one training.

As the course assignments are all completed on-line, students may study completely at their own pace and will be required to have access to 30 hours of teaching practice with your student (If you have done any teaching in the past we may be able to take this into consideration as RPL ) this can be used as evidence,

All students will be observed online during their course, this may be done on zoom teaching over the duration of your training.

There are 6 units within this course as follows.

The units are:

Mandatory units –

  • Delivering Education and Training
  • Assessing Learners in Education and Training
  • Manage learning and development in groups

Optional units –

  • Assess occupational competence in the work environment
  • Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
  • Internally assure the quality of assessment

This qualification aimed at tutors & mentors who wish to guide their staff and students through the Teaching & assessment process you will assess occupational/vocational competence in a real working or collage environment. You will learn how to Risk assess, skill assess, look after your candidates with any learning differences this would include language and dyslexia barrier’s, you will learn how to cover assessment plans, provide constructive feedback to students, or training staff, sign off in many different ways to practical assessments and develop your students portfolio of work. Level 5 Teacher Training

DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training allows and qualifies you to work in the lifelong learning sector in a full teaching position within further education as well as in some secondary schools.

With this certification you are able to apply for your Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) through the Education & Training Foundation.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

The guided learning hours for this course are 360 – 465 hours.

As the course assignments are on-line, students may study completely at their own pace.

Students will be required to have access to 100 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course. (If you have done any teaching in the past 3 months, we may be able to take this into consideration.)

There are 4 mandatory units within the course, these include;

  • Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  • Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  • Wider professional practice and development in education and training
  • Applying theories and principles for planning and enabling inclusive learning and teaching

Optional Units,

  • Action research
  • Teaching in a specialist area
  • Inclusive practice

As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format. Your assessor will provide guidance on how to prepare the portfolio of evidence and how to show practical achievement and understanding of the knowledge required to successfully complete this qualification. It is this booklet along with the portfolio of evidence that will serve as the prime source of evidence for this qualification. Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:

  • Observed work
  • Witness statements
  • Audio-visual media
  • Evidence of prior learning or attainment
  • Written questions
  • Oral questions
  • Assignments
  • Case studies

All evidence should be documented in the portfolio and cross-referenced to unit outcomes. Constructing the portfolio of evidence should not be left to the end of the course.
